Combined hydrostatic and mechanism for vehicle change speed gearing - has friction clutches for speed change through epicyclic gearing

In an infinitely variable hydrostatic pump and motor system, two shafts driven by the pump (9) and motor (16) respectively are connected by speed change gearing to an output shaft (2). The shaft connected to the pump is connectable through a friction clutch (33) and gearing (25, 12) to the first sun gear (3) of a compound epicyclic gearing driving the output shaft. Alternatively, the pump shaft is connectable by a friction clutch (32) through gearing (8, 7) to drive the first planet carrier of the epicyclic system. Friction clutches replace a double claw coupling.
