An improved headphone set uses separate loudspeakers for low frequencies and a separate set for the middle and high frequencies, with one pair mounted away from the ears. The main loudspeaker pair (2) is mounted forward of the ears on projecting stems (6) and may be adjusted in distance and angle to provide the most suitable reception of middle and high frequency signals. Bass frequency signals are received through a separate pair of loudspeakers (3) located near to the ear and inclined at a slight angle to the head. Separation of the bass frequency signals reduces signal distortion.
