A socket has its socket bushes free of current when not in use. It contains a switching element which connects the bushes to the current when the plug pins are engaged in the socket. Each current conducting pair has an individual or a common switching element in the form of a torque switch (2). It is located between the mains terminals (5) and the socket bushes (4). The current carrying conductors will either be linked or broken when the torque switch is actuated. The torque switch can be linked to give an indication when the circuit made by plugging in the pins, or broken when pulling out the plug. The torque switch can be of the push button variety and the knob shaped actuator of the push button switch protrudes through a hole in the socket plate of the socket.
|
