<p>Connector for pipes made of polyethylene, polypropylene or similar plastics comprises a fitting inside the bore of which is a conical metal bush with an internal thread of which the turns are pointed at the larger-dia. end and flattened at the smaller dia. end. The bush is pref. located remotely from the point of entry of the fitting, thus forming a cylindrical shank of a given length which transfers the zone of bending of the pipe relative to the inlet of the thread of the bush. The bush pref. has a zone of pointed thread turns at the inlet end, gradually becoming flatter towards a zone of flattened thread turns at the outlet end. The bush adapts the thread turns to the inner surface of the pipe; seals the flat part of the thread relative to the thread of the pipe end; and holds the pipe securely by penetration of the outer thread turns.</p> |
