Mechanical servo for clutch or brakes - with elliptical cam and pivoted sprung lever producing high force over small range

The mechanical servo provides a controlled, large servo force over a small stroke, so that the brakes and clutch control are eased. A pivotted cylinder (1) is mounted about a fixed point (6) and has an internal captive spring ( 2). This presses a cam wheel (3) onto an elliptical cam (11) about the point. The elliptical cam presses onto the servo rod (8) to generate small strokes at large forces. The pivot action of the cylinder is operated with a small force at a larger stroke. The servo is simple and compact and is easily fitted to conventional car controls.
