<p>PURPOSE: To efficiently remove contaminants by adding O3 to a gaseous stream contg. the oxidative org. contaminants having a specific reaction rate constant and effecting reaction at 250 to 800 deg.C. CONSTITUTION: The O3 is added to the gaseous stream contg. the oxidative org. contaminants, such as xylene, ketone and methyl ethyl ketones, having the reaction rate constant with O[<3> P] of about 10<-11> to 1<-16> 0 cm<2> /mol, second at 300 deg.C and is reacted at 250 to 800 deg.C. At this time, the O3 gives rise to O[<3> P] by the reaction to decompose and oxidize the contaminants. The amt. of the O3 to be added may be determined by integrating models consisting of the reaction rate equations of the respective elementary reactions over a time.</p> |
