PURPOSE:To uniformly coat a high-viscosity coating liquid at a required film thickness on the surface of a base material by inscribing grooves of a specific groove width and peak width circumferentially to the peripheral face of a coating roll and moving both the coating roll and a doctor bar upward and downward. CONSTITUTION:The high-viscosity coating liquid having >=1,000cp viscosity is coated with the coating roll 1C on the surface of the horizontally carried base plate P. The grooves 21 of <=80mu peak width are inscribed at >=300mu pitch circumferentially on the peripheral face of said coating roll 1C and the roll 1C is disposed freely attachably and detachably in the vertical direction with respect to the carrying path of the plate P. Further, the doctor bar 1D is disposed freely attachably and detachably to the roll 1C. This doctor bar 1D is so supported as to move upward and downward together with the roll 1C. As a result, the high-viscosity coating liquid is evenly and uniformly coated at the required film thickness on the surface of the base plate. |
