PURPOSE:To improve durability and recording and reproducing characteristics by forming an optical recording layer of a thin film formed by incorporating a specific boron compd. into >=1 kinds of elements among Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, and Ag. CONSTITUTION:The recording layer is formed on a substrate consisting of transparent plastic by sputtering a composite compd. prepd. by incorporating 1-30mol% >=1 kinds of the boron nitride, boron carbide and boron oxide into >=1 kinds of the elements along the Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, and Ag as a target. The reflectivity of the thin film is lowered when this recording layer is irradiated by a condensed laser beam. Writing and reading of signals by a semiconductor laser are enabled by utilizing the change in the reflectivity. The durability as well as the recording and reproducing characteristics are thereby improved. The oxidation resistance is degraded if the content of the boron is <1mol% and the formability of bubbles is poor of the content exceeds 30mol%. |
