POROUS BARRIERS

The porous sintered film has as its main component either Al contng. pref. 6% Cu or Al2O3, and is covered by a porous plstic film having pref. PTFE as its main component. The membrane is used for separating uranium fluoride gases used in enriching radioactive isotopes and is resistant to the corrosive effects of the gases. The membrane also has high porosity and mechanical strength, allowing its thickness to be reduced, thus reducing power requirements for pumping the gases through the membrane.
