PURPOSE:To smoothly start an automobile, by providing a controller for automatically regulating a clutch in response to the change in the rotational speed of an engine and by enabling the controller to regulate the operating speed of an engage/disengage member for the clutch depending on the rate of increase in the rotational frequency of the engine. CONSTITUTION:When a holding valve 12 is open and a control valve 11 is energized to conduct negative pressure to the negative pressure chamber 5a of a diaphragm unit 5 through a negative pressure passage 7 to move an operating rod 6 rightward, a clutch 2 installed between the output shaft 1a of an engine 1 and the input shaft 3a of a transmission 3 is disengaged by an operating member 4. At that time, the velocity of introduction of the negative pressure into the chamber 5a is regulated by a speed control valve 16. The valves 11, 12, 16 are regulated by a control circuit 17, which detects the rate of change in the rotational frequency of the engine on the basis of the output of a rotational frequency detector 18 and which stops the operation of the unit 5 when said rate of change has become negative. |
