The mixing valve has a cylindrical body (2) with a threaded inlet (6) for attaching to the collecting chamber for both hot and cold water streams. The outlet (8) is attached to the flexible pipe leading to the shower head and the flow is controlled by the tap (12). As the water flows through the valve, it passes around the outer edge of the hemispherical baffle (13) and then through the holes (16) in the larger baffle (14). The two baffles are joined together by a boss (15) and clamped in a recess (17) by the threaded end (7) of the tap (12). The turbulence induced in the water by the baffles (13, 14) ensures complete mixing of the hot and cold streams.
