Method of sintering iron ore or mixts. of iron ores is claimed in which the ores are mixed with fuel, binder and opt. additives and then granulated, A proportion of ore of grain size >=1500 cm2/g is included in the mixt. Pref. >=50% of the particles have dias. 45 mu while the largest particles include a majority with dias. >0.125 mm. The fines are pref. rich in Fe while the coarse material is poor in iron. Process uses up the iron rich fine particles discarded in conventional sinter plant operation without recourse to the conventional pelleting process.
