<p>Compsn. contains several solvents for softening and liquefying the coating present, so that discolouration, wax, dirt, grease and gum base of the polish can be removed with a liq.-permeable polishing material. The compsn. pref. contains 20 vol. % each of Me2CO, CH2Cl2, toluene, MeOH and isopropanol is used with steel wool. Specifically, the surface is rubbed with steel wool dipped in the solvent, first in small overlapping areas until clean and then along the grain. After drying, it is polished with steel wool and opt. treated with polishing agent. The surface can be refinished without stripping, removing wood filler and loss of the patina. The process can be carried out relatively quickly by hand without great effort. No further treatment is necessary after dying, although other coatings, e.g. varnish, shellac, lacquer, polyurethane etc., can be applied.</p> |
