<p>1533419 Pile fabrics E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 19 Aug 1976 [20 Aug 1975] 34628/76 Heading D1K [Also in Division B5] A process for the production of a pile fabric comprises laying a batt 52 of staple fibres upon a woven fabric 42 of polypropylene yarn in the form of continuous filaments or ribbons, needling, fibres of the batt into the fabric e.g. by needle loom 64, bonding the resultant composite structure by fusing the staple fibres of the batt e.g. on bonder 66 having a steam chamber, by the action of a solvent or by chemical means, passing the fused product through a tufter 70 to provide a loop pile structure and printing the structure by printer 74. The staple fibres may be formed of polypropylene or copoly(ethylene terephthalate / isophthalate) and the tufting may be effected with bulked continuous filament nylon. In the product shown in Fig. 1, 10 is the filling, 12 the warp of the woven fabric. 20 is the butt and 32 the loop pile.</p> |
