Chloromethyl silatran for topical treatment of wounds - and (allergic) dermatitis

1-Chloromethylsilatran of formula (I) is new: ClCH2S: (OCH2CH2)3N It is prepd. by reacting triethanolamine with chlorome thyl trimethoxysilane (II), pref. in ethanol in the presence of KOH. (I) is used to treat dermatitis, including allergic dermatitis, including allergic dermatitis, and to encourage healing of wounds. (I) has LD50 3g/kg(i.p; animal not stated) and ointments contg. it are non-irritating to the skin. (I) is pref. formulated as a 1-5wt.% compsn. with an ointment base, (lanolin with vaseline) as carrier. In an example (I) is prepd. in 90% yield by adding (II) to a boiling mixt. of triethanolamine, ethanol and KOH.
