Ethylene and gasoline alkylate prodn - by steam cracking mixt of isomerised/cracked gas oil and deisobutanised 3-5C paraffin fraction and alkylating the olefin prod fraction

Process for the prodn. of ethylene and a by-product gasoline alkylate comprises (a) steam cracking a feed mixt. consisting of (1) an isomerised/cracked gas oil stripped of 9C components and (2) a deisobutanised 3-5C paraffin fraction, in a (1) : (2) molar ratio of 0.1-5 (esp. 0.2-2) : 1, at 1200-1600 degrees F., and obtaining (i) an ethylene stream and (ii) a 3-4C olefin fraction, (ii) being subsequently alkylated with isobutane to form a gasoline alkylate.
