1484072 Tent support structure J R SMITH 26 Aug 1975 [12 Sept 1974] 30376/74 Heading E1A A support structure for a tent comprises a tent pole 1 and a plurality of support members for use with the pole; the pole having a plurality of anchoring means 4 spaced apart circumferentially around the pole adjacent to a top end thereof, a first stop means 5 adjacent to the anchoring means, a second stop means 6 spaced along the pole from the first stop means; a sleeve 10 slidable on the pole from the first to the second stop means and lockable adjacent to the second stop means; and a plurality of locating means 15, 46 spaced apart around the circumference of the sleeve; each support member having an arm 17 with an anchoring member 18 at one end and a guy securing element 20 at the other end, and a strut 23 pivoted at one end intermediate the ends of the arm and having a locating member 26 at its free end; wherein with the sleeve adjacent to the first stop means and each support member in a folded condition the arm of each support member has its anchoring member freely engageable and disengageable with a respective anchoring means on the pole, the strut of each support member has its locating member freely engageable and disengageable with a respective locating means on the sleeve and axially aligned with the respective anchoring means on the pole, and guys secured to the ground are freely engageable and disengageable with the guy securing elements; so that, with the anchoring member and anchoring means engaged, with the locating member and locating means engaged and with guys secured to the ground and to the guy securing elements, movement of the sleeve to adjacent the second stop means causes unfolding of the support members and tensioning of the guys, and locking of the sleeve adjacent to the second stop means locks the support members in an unfolded state wherein disengagement of the anchoring member from the anchoring means, of the locating member from the locating means and' of the guys from the guy securing means is inhibited. |
