On the discs of the inner of two rotors in a centrifugal extractor for handling heavy and light fluids, which extend into the mixing zones formed by projecting rings on the inner surface of the outer rotor, mixing vanes are fitted, and these serve either to transmit the motion of the outer to the inner rotor or to intensify the mixing action. The two rotors may be driven independently or the inner rotor may be coupled to a hydraulic brake. The extractor can be applied universally. It is simple in design gives intensive mixing of the fluids, the degree of which can be accurately and reliably adjusted.
