Security mounting of road vehicle number plates - uses transparent liquid filled section behind which are located numbers and which is discharged by interference

A method of mounting vehicle number plates is adopted that presents great difficulty is being able to change numbers in the event of the vehicle being stolen. The vehicle registration numbers (12) are sandwiched between a solid mounting plate (9) fixed to the vehicle, and a box section (1) produced in a clear plastic material. The box section is filled with a liquid with similar optical qualities as the box material, such that the numbers are readily viewed. The box section has projecting rivet studs (8) that locate through the mounting plate. Each stud has a central bore (11) that is bridged in the middle. A cap section (8) prevents access from the rear. Any attempt to gain access to the numbers results in the rivets shearing with a consequent loss of fluid.
