A device for fitting sealing or scraper rings on pistons, consists of a piston holder (1) with a sliding part (4) attached with tapered circumference towards the piston grooves. The tapered circumference has a notch to receive the hinged end (6) of a clasp (7). The other end of the clasp has an angled extension (9) fitting into the piston ring groove (10), extending around about 1/10 of the piston circumference. The angled extension has a thickness equivalent to half the piston ring groove width. In the middle of the circumferential length of the clasp is a separating pin (11) reaching into the piston ring groove (10).
