The additional laser attachment generates and distinguishes an adjusting phase and a working phase, and has at least one filter mounted in the beam path. The filter (7) is switchable. The attachment has a warning device (13) indicating the working phase. It is force coupled with the filter in such manner that with its switching off it is switched on and vice versa. Preferably between the ON and OFF position of the filter is provided a transition position, in which the laser beam (4) is completely screened off. The filter may be of glass, interference or polarisation type, being swivable relative to the laser beam path. An optochemical filter may be used and mounted stationary in the beam path. The filter effect is provided by voltage application.
