Wooden door case replacing fitted steel door case - has steel case retained after hinge strips removal, and wooden case laid round it

Simplified replacement of a steel door case, esp. of the type installed before recent improvements, and which may be rusting, by a more attractive wooden door case. The hinge strips are removed from the steel door case (3). Apart from this, the original case is left where it is, and the wooden door case is laid round it and fixed in place. The hinge strips (15) for the wooden door case may be set on the steel door case rabbet in the direction of the rabbet (17) and driven into this at their inside ends, and fixed there. Use may be made of wooden case components e.g. (8) which are suitable for initial construction as far as their longitudinal dimensions are concerned.
