PROJECTION TYPE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE OF THREE-PLATE SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To absorb the greater part of the incident light on a light shielding part and to prevent the degradation in image contrast by reflected light by using a coloring material to constitute the light shielding part for the TFT matrix of a liquid crystal panel for a light valve. CONSTITUTION:A transparent conductive film 13 is formed over the entire surface of a transparent glass substrate 12 and the coloring material 21 is patterned thereon. An oriented film for orienting the liquid crystal 15 is formed on the coloring material 21 and the TFT matrix 17 for impressing a voltage on the liquid crystal is patterned for each of picture elements on the transparent glass substrate 16 in the position corresponding to the coloring material 21. The coloring material 21 contains a photosensitive resin composed of a multifunctional acrylate monomer, org. polymer binder and photopolymn. initiator consisting of a trihalomethyl-S-triazine compd. and a pigment. The incident colored light in an arrow direction passes the liquid crystal 15 to form transmitted light 19 contg. image information. A part of the incident light on the part of the coloring material 21 is absorbed by the coloring material 21 and the degradation in the image contrast by the reflected light is eventually prevented.
