The combined flywheel and disc for dark storage unit is supported by bearings on a centre spindle. The flywheel action is provided by a thick section disc (4) with an outer flange ring (3). The data recording disc (2) is mounted on top of the flange. A read-write head module can be moved across the surface. USE/ADVANTAGE - Combines stabilising flywheel and disc recording in single unit for use in satellites.
