The catalyst may be in the form of sintered tiles having through bores. The oxygencontaining component may be air, carbon dioxide or steam. The process is particularly suited to cracking the hydrocarbon, i.e. petrol, feed to an internal combustion engine. In such a case, the oxygen-containing component may be a mixture of air and the exhaust gas from the engine. The Examples describe the cracking of a petrol feed at 800‹ C. |
