摘要 <p>1467143 Controlling injection of flux into a steel making vessel USS ENGS & CONSULTANTS Inc 24 April 1974 [25 April 1973] 17944/74 Heading F4B [Also in Division C7] Flux from a tank 12a is injected into a steel making vessel 210 at a controlled rate. An oxygen source 2 supplies oxygen through a main line 4 to the bottom of the vessel 210. The source 2 also supplies a branch line 6, 6<SP>1</SP>, 6 which rejoins the main line at C. The branch line is supplied with flux from the tank 12a through an injection nozzle 16. Pressure to force the flux from the tank is provided by oxygen supplied through a pressurizing line 22. The difference between the pressure in the flux tank and in the main line 4 is measured by a device 40. A voltage output from the device is fed to a control 42 which controls the pressure in the flux tank as a function of the pressure differential. The pressure differential may be kept constant to provide a constant flux injection rate. The pressure in the tank is adjusted by control of valves 26, 32 in the pressurizing and vent lines 22, 28. The weight of flux in the tank is measured by load cells 34. A signal (I), Fig. 4 (not shown), indicative of the weight is fed both to (a) circuitry illustrated in Fig. 5 (not shown) concerned with controlling the total amount of flux supplied from the tank through valve 20 and (b) circuitry illustrated in Fig. 6 (not shown) concerned with controlling the flux flow rate. A signal (O 3 ) from the Fig. 6 circuitry is fed to the differential pressure flow control 42; the control 42 being illustrated in more detail in Fig. 3 (not shown). Operation of valves is such that the flux tank is pressurized and oxygen flow is established in the branch line before the flux is supplied to the branch line. The apparatus includes flux tanks additional to the tank 12a all of which are connected to the same steel making vessel. For shutting off one tank and actuating another, there is a remote switching control device as illustrated in Figs. 7 and 7a (not shown) at 70A and 70B. The steel making process may be carried out in a converter, electric furnace, open hearth or hot metal mixer.</p>
