1517202 Ships' propellers KARLSTADS MEKANISKA WERKSTAD AB 30 Sept 1975 [30 Sept 1974] 39913/75 Heading B7V A ship's propeller intended for operation within a cowl 11 has detachable blades 1 secured via flanges 3 to a boss 5, a hinge 15 being mountable on the boss 5 and a flange 3 to enable the associated blade 1 to be pivoted clear of cowl 11. To remove a blade, securing bolts are first removed and a hydraulic piston cylinder assembly 19 is pressurized to reduce friction while the blade is rotated about a'radial axis to a position suitable for its pivotal removal. In this position a pair of threaded holes 13 in the boss 5 are adjacent three similar holes in the flange 3. The two portions 25, 33 of the hinge are secured by bolts and the hydraulic assembly 19 is further pressurized to slightly raise the blade enabling a pin 31 to be inserted into hinge portions 28, 33. The blade can now be pivoted clear and pin 31 removed.
|
