1467111 Pipe couplings E G DOUBLEDAY 8 Jan 1975 [10 Jan 1974] 848/75 Heading F2G A suction pipe for dust or liquid suction devices comprises identical pipe sections adapted to be plugged together, each pipe section having a receiving sleeve 5 at one end and an insertion end 7 at the other end. The sleeve 5 has a recess 13 adapted to be engaged by a protuberance 12 provided on the insertion end 7 of the adjacent pipe section. The recess 13 is contained in a strip 14 which is defined by two closed-ended spaced longitudinal slots 15, 16, the strip 14 being deflected outwardly to allow the protuberance 12 to enter the recess 13 and then deflecting back to locate the protuberance in the recess. A lead-in passage 19 may be located between the recess 13 and the adjacent end face 17 of the pipe section, the passage 19 internally conforming to the width of the protuberance 12, and externally sharing a longitudinal rib 18. The end of the passage may be marked by a surface 20 at an incline to the axis and merging with the bore 6 of the sleeve 5 before reaching the recess 13. The pipe sections are preferably made of thermosetting plastics material.
