<p>1386210 2 - Methyl - 5 - nitro -1 - [2 - heteroaryloxy)ethyl]-imidazoles G D SEARLE & CO 11 Sept 1973 [11 Sept 1972] 42562/73 Heading C2C Novel compounds of Formula I: wherein R is a pyridyl or quinolyl (benzo-(b)- pyridyl) radical, optionally substituted by 1 to 3 halogen atoms, NO 2 groups and/or methyl groups are obtained by reacting a compound of Formula II: wherein A is a hydrogen atom or a radical of formula -CH 2 CH 2 X (wherein X is halogen, toluenesulphonyloxy or methanesulphonyloxy) with a compound of formula, B-R, wherein B is an alkali metal oxy group when A is -CH 2 CH 2 X or B is a radical of formula -O-CH 2 CH 2 X when A is a hydrogen atom. The imidazole derivatives of Formula I possess anti-microbial activity.</p> |
