Biocidal compositions containing monocyclic polyoxymethyleneoxazolidines

Biocidal compositions useful in controlling the growth of bacteria and fungi in aqueous surface-coating compositions are aqueous solutions that contain from 20 percent to 80 percent by weight of monocyclic polyoxymethyleneoxazolidines having the structural formula <IMAGE> wherein R represents hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, phenyl, halophenyl, or -(CH2O)mCH2OH; each R' represents alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms or -CH2OH; m represents a number in the range of 0 to 2; and n represents a number in the range of 1 to 4.
