<p>The shadow mask cathode-ray tube which contains an electron gun to generate a number of electron beams which converge and are focussed on a reproduction screen, is used for colour television. The tube consists of a glass casing (1) and electron gun (2) which generates three beams (3, 4, 5), a shadow masker (6) with a large number of holes (7) and a resproduction screen (8). The screen has a large number of red, green and blue luminescent phosphor regions. The point of intersection of the beams in front of the focussing lens is on the side of the cathodes. The focussing lens converges the electron beams beyond the point of intersection onto the reproduction screen. The axis of the three beams lie in a flat plane through the axis of the focussing length.</p> |
