PURPOSE:To carry out mat like printing by extruding polyester kneaded with inorg. fine particles in a molten state and applying an aqueous solution or dispersion of a heat-resistant resin to the single surface of the formed extrudate and subsequently drying, stretching and heat-treating the coated extrudate to form a heat-resistant layer. CONSTITUTION:Polyester kneaded with inorg. fine particles having a particle size of 0.1 - 3mum is extruded in a molten state to be formed into a polyester film and an aqueous solution or dispersion of a heat-resistant resin is applied to the single surface of the polyester film whose crystal orientation is not yet completed and the coated polyester film is successively dried, stretched and heat-treated to form the coating layer composed of the heat-resistant resin. The heat-resistant resin is at least one resin selected from a silicone resin, an urethane resin, a melamine resin, a urea- formalin resin and a cellulose derivative and the inorg. fine particles are composed of at least one material selected from silicon oxide, titanium oxide, magnesium oxide and kaolinite. The center surface average roughness SRa of a film for thermal transfer recording is set to 0.15 - 1.00mum and the ten-point average roughness SRz thereof is set to 1.00 - 6.00mum. |
