PURPOSE:To obtain a refractory having excellent spalling resistance and thermal shock resistance by compounding an alumina raw material to a refractory aggregate composed of magnesia and calcia. CONSTITUTION:The objective refractory material can be produced by compounding 100 pts.wt. of a refractory aggregate composed of 20-95wt.% of magnesia and 80-5wt.% of calcia with 0.5-10 pts.wt. of an alumina raw material having particle diameter of <=5mm. The refractory is produced by mixing an alumina raw material to a magnesia-calcia refractory aggregate, adding a non-aqueous binder such as tar, liquid phenolic resin, polyurethane, polypropylene and wax to the product, kneading the mixture and forming and baking the kneaded product. The baking temperature is preferably about 1600-1700 deg.C. |
