Typewriter ribbon transport mechanism - has drive engaging with ribbon dependent on position of platen

The mechanism transports the ink ribbon of a typewriter or teleprinter machine etc. in which the printing head travels along the platen, which cannot move in the axial direction, and the spools for the ribbon are accommodated in fixed portions of the machine. A drive (9-15) is provided for the ribbon (3) and via this the ribbon can be engaged dependent on the platen positions, for a distance equal to a few tims that of the interval between symbols. The drive can be reversed between the two spools (4, 5) in the housing.
