Conversion of single or double shuttle looms - esp. a plush or velvet weaving loom, to a shuttleless rapier loom

Plates are mounted on the top ends of the main columns for mounting all the elements required for the shuttleless weft introduction. These comprise the central rapier drive shaft, the rapier drive on the cantilever arms consisting of an angle gear drive, a double crank and cyclone gears, a yarn presentation device and weft yarn shears mounted on opposite sides to the release rails. The rapier drive can esp. be cut-off via a coupling from the drive of the remainder of the loom. Method permits a much increased throughput to be obtd by a conversion of an ordinary plush or velvet loom by a simple, inexpensive assembly of rapier and auxiliary equipment without having to make any significant change in the existing loom construction.
