A crude liquid of india ink is prepared by (1) dissolving rosin or rosin ester in phenol or cresol, (2) mixing the solution with 12- 30 wt.% NaOH or KOH solution, (3) diluting the mixture with water, (4) grinding carbonblack mixed with the diluted solution, (5) agitatingly mixing the ground carbonblack with a cohesive aqueous solution, (6) diluting the mixture with water, followed by settling, and (7) removing the precipitate from the liquid. The cohesive aqueous solution is prepared by dissolving casein or polyvinyl alcohol in water and adding 10% conc. ammonia solution. |
