The moistening appts. in an offset print machines has a gap between a dip roller (16) engaging the liquid (18) and a parallel transfer (15). The dip roller has a surface formed with pockets tending to retain the liquid as the roller rotates. A nozzle (21) is arranged to blow obliquely onto the surface of the dip roller to atomize the liquid and blow it across the gap on to the transfer roller. To make it possible to adjust the quantity of water deposited on the transfer roller, the nozzle is rotatable about an axis parallel to that of the dip roller.
