Process involves the use of yarn guides by which >=2 yarns are fed separately and simultaneously through a single friction false twisting unit. Pref. before the yarns reach the falst twisting zone they are held by guides so that they are widely separated, being separated only at a stud on entry into the false twisting tube so that they are close to each other, although separated, while being false twisted. The system allows the number of false twisting tubes and units to be reduced by at least half.
