The workpiece clamp for use on workbench has two clamping jaws (24, 26) positioned along a common guide rail (22) whose ends are screw-clamped to slotted holders (18, 20) bolted to the workbench top. The holders themselves are angled brackets each having one limb (64) bolted horizontally to the workbench top. The other limb extends from this first limb outwards from teh bench at an initial angle of 45 deg. to the horizontal with the limb end (48) bent vertically downwards. The guide rail and its associated clamping jaws can therefore be clamped by wing nuts on the vertical limb of the holers or on the 45 deg. sections depending on the working angle required by the craftsman.
