Roller drive of large diameter cylinder - uses hydraulic motor driven by hydraulic pump

Hydraulic unit is for driving a large diameter cylinder such as used in rotary kilns, divers, etc and is of the type in which the cylinder (20) is rotated by rollers (22) which may be rubber-covered. The rollers are driven by an hydraulic motor (4) which itself is actuated by an hydraulic pressure source. The motor way act directly on the cylinder or via an intermediate shaft (1). There may be more than one hydraulic motor driving the cylinder via individual intermediate shafts. Each shaft may be carried in a bearing (2) and be driven via a resilient coupling (3).
