Screw press, as in DT 514470, for continuous processing of granular, agglomerate or powdered raw material, to form films, profiles etc. is improved in that (a) the mixing element is formed from individual balls, or needle rollers of the same or different dia. arranged in >=1 plane situated one behind the other; (b) the ball or rollers are supported on surface machined in the conveyor screw or its pointed tip and in the housing surrounding this. Advantageously, the dia. of the balls or roller corresponds to the inner dia. i.e. shaft dia. of the conveyor screw in the plane of the ball or roller centres. Appts. prevents the overstressing and resultant overheating and possible burning of the material e.g. p.v.c. being extracted, in extruders of the original design.
