<p>1470796 Shaft furnaces KLOCKNERWERKE AG 9 April 1974 [19 May 1973] 15636/74 Heading F4B [Also in Division C7] In the continuous production of steel, a charge of e.g. scrap or sponge iron is melted in vessel 20 by a burner lance 1 fed with an oil/O 2 mixture melting the charge from below, the molten metal discharging through 17 and into a tilting transition vessel 21 where slag is removed and alloying elements are introduced, through 10, to form the required steel. Air is introduced through gap 6 to burn the waste gases from the melting and preheat the charge. The vessel 21 may be heated by an induction coil 14 or by electric arc (Fig. 2, not shown).</p> |
