1521965 Dry transfer sheets LETRASET INTERNATIONAL Ltd 27 Aug 1975 [12 Sept 1974] 39825/74 Heading B6C A dry transfer comprises a translucent or transparent carrier sheet, indicia and a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive overlying both the indicia and the carrier sheet wherein the indicia are non-thermoplastic and light-stable, being based on cross-linked polymers containing carbon black, while the adhesive includes an acrylic polymer having groups capable of crosslinking. Preferably, the polymer of the indicia includes urethane linkages from co-polymerization of polyol, and polyisocyanates, together with a cellulose ester, cyclohexanone resin, phenoxy resin, reactive acrylic resin, reactive vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer or polyvinyl butyrol. The adhesive is generally formed by copolymerizing alkyl acrylate or methacrylate with acrylic acid, itaconic acid, methacrylic acid, acrylamide or acrylate ester, containing hydroxyethyl, aminoethyl or glycidyl groups. Transfer preferably involves stretch release of the indicia from the carrier sheet, and the resulting transferred indicia are especially suited to subsequent thermographic copying. |
