<p>The screw-type vehicle jack has a supporting column on which an arm swings about a transverse axis under the action of a spindle with a hand crank, working in a nut on the arm and a bearing in the column. The free end of the arm is shaped so as to engage with the underside of the vehicle bodyworks. A clamping mechanism (44, 46) is provided, by means of which the arm (14) automatically locks in retracted position, protected by the column (10). This mechanism can be positively actuated by the spindle (30), incorporating a spring component distorted by the spindle.</p> |
