<p>A system for applying friction reducing substance to the hull of a waterborne craft, e.g. a submersible has a primary (2, 5) and several secondary (3, 8) water entry pipes in the forward part of the hull. Each of these pipes leads to a water jet injector type mixing nozzle (4, 9) followed by a parallel mixing length (6, 10) and a diffuser (7, 11). At the mixing nozzles (9) in the secondary pipes, additive is metered into the water. This is stored in flexible containers under ambient water pressure. The primary mixing nozzle (4) further dilutes the additive mixture from (any number of) secondary lines. The total installation may comprise several systems as above, feeding a common distribution system.</p> |
