1466749 Grain lifter G SCHUMACHER and G SCHUMACHER 17 May 1974 [22 May 1973] 22108/74 Heading A1F A grain lifter for a corn reaping machine comprises a supporting rod 1 adapted to be connected to a reaper and a grain lifting leg 4 which is welded to the rod 1 and has a tapered configuration. The grain lifter is connected, through its supporting rod 1, to a cutter finger fastening bolt 2 and to a cutter finger 3 of the reaper. The lifting leg 4 is of inverted U-shape in cross-section with two leg portions progressively shortening towards the free end. The legs of the U may have their end portions directed towards each other to avoid sharp edges. Also, the weight per unit length of the lifting leg 4 reduces towards the free end. In another embodiment the distance between the leg portions progressively decreases towards the free end of the lifting leg 4. |
