Fibers having properties of high elasticity or high tenacity are formed by drawing from the melt polybutene-1 or a copolymer of butene-1 with up to 20 mole per cent propylene or ethylene and converting the drawn fiber to crystalline Form I, in the case of elastic fibers. The degree of elasticity or tenacity depends upon the draw down ratio and the crystallinity of the polymer used, and, in the case of high tenacity fibers, the melt temperature at the die orifice. |
