<p>1435334 Lighters F B CORTE 7 Nov 1973 [26 April 1973] 51669/73 Heading F4F The actuating mechanism of a gas-fuelled lighter comprises an operating stem 22 which is slidable.in but rotatably fixed to a friction wheel supporting member 26 and screw-threadedly engages a member 28 which is capable of rotation only in one direction such that on depression of a key 8, the stem and the wheel are forced to rotate but on release of the key the stem moves upwardly without rotation since the member 28 is allowed to rotate for that particular movement. A flint 16 is spring-biased against the wheel to produce a spark to ignite gas from a valve c which is opened via a lever 20 and key projection 19 simultaneously with rotation of the wheel. The supporting member is connected to the stem by a key-groove construction. The member 28 is provided with circumferentially extending flexible arms which abut projections formed on the adjacent wall of the body. The key is spring-biased and provided with a stop projection 11.</p> |
