The fan operates intermittently, receiving power from a battery 21 via a transistorised timing circuit (Fig. 3, not shown), which allows the fan to operate for short periods between other periods during which vapour from the source 27 disperses throughout the casing. The vapour source is preferably a gel which slowly evaporates and is associated with a syneresis pad (see Figs. 2A, 2B and 2C, not shown) which absorbs liquid exuded from the gel during shrinkage and which compensates to some extent for the decrease in surface area of the gel during use.</p> |
