<p>New neoplasm diagnostic agents contain NEA and/or NEA antibodies. NEA i a new type of neoplasm antigen found in embryonic and neoplastic tissues. NEA is detected by radioimmno methods utilising NEA or NEA antibodies labelled with a radiactive isotope or by haemagglutination using NEA or NEA antibodies. In the prodn. of NEA antibodies, animals are immunised with NEA or an NEA/antibody complex and the antiserum is recovered. The NEA and NEA antibodies are purified by affinity chromatography. The NEA-contg. mixt. is contacted with a basic anion-exchange resin. Unlike other tumour antigens, NEA is not specific to tumours of particular tissues, but can occur in e.g., breast, gastric or live tumours, so that tests based on NEA can be used for detecting a variety of neoplasms.</p> |
